I'm looking at new bars to replace stock beach bars on my 08 Fat Boy. There are so many options out there, I'm getting a little lost. I think I need to have a frame of reference for the height, width, etc... but I can't find any specs on the stock bars. Any advice on how to take measurements for height, pull back, wrist angle, width?
PVC pipe. Mock up what you find comfortable and go from there. I held a broom and had someone measure up from the tree to where I liked it. I subtracted the height of the risers to get the measurements I wanted for bars. Amazingly it worked great and I'm happy with what I got.
Was that for your softtail? In the picture it looks like you have a little bit of lean forward in your ride with a grip width that is narrower than stock, which is what I'm looking for. What height and grip width did you end up with?
I'll have to measure the grip width, I'm not certain about it. Yes, my Springer is a softail. Same frame as yours but different front end is all. Everything else is equal.
I had the narrow beach bars on before the Wild 1 chubby outlaw bars. The narrow beach are about 31" wide and the Wild 1 are 35" wide. The apes are a lot more more comfortable and they don't feel as wide as they measured.
You can also go to a dealer and sit on a few bikes with different bars to get an idea, which is what I did. Not exactly a scientific approach, but it was close enough for me when replacing the bars on my Slim. I ended up with the same bars as RIPbiker13, but had theM powder coated to match the forks due to my OCD.

On your bike it makes sense though. Mine is matte black and the bars match the bike. Looks good btw.
I definitely wasn’t trying to say the matte finish didn’t look good, so I apologize if that is how I came across. It’s awesome and the bars look perfect on your bike. I was just trying to point out why, although they are the same bars, mine are gloss black since they are only sold with matte finish. And, thanks!

you cannot offend me over the Internet!
Also... They're only sold in matte? I called Wild 1 directly and their website offers them in gloss, matte or chrome. I requested matte on purpose and was given the choice of gloss from them if I wanted. Got the risers in gloss though.
