I attempted a search for this but did not find anything (yes I am a newbie). I am trying to mount up my brackets for the footrest on the rear brake pedal side of my Fatboy. I have tried to use a T-45 but it seems a bit loose. Curious if anyone has tried a Torx key that lies between the T-45 and T-50 range. Also does anyone have any info on these bolts, I was thinking of getting Allen key bolts to replace the Torx ones?
There is a T47 Torx bit. If the Torx set is large enough, chances are it has a T47. You can only try it to see if it fits. Also, many of us have replaced Torx with Allen bolts. The problem most people have with Torx is they use the wrong bit or a cheap bit and strip the screw/bolt.
I think it is more of an individual decision. Personally, I do not have a problem with Torx. There is absolutely nothing wrong with changing to Allen bolts. My main issue is not with Torx but button head bolts. I do not like button head bolts because it can be difficult to get locking pliers to grab them due to the rounded head should the bolt strip. For that reason I change to socket head Allen bolts.
