The wire didn't feed through the original mounting (part 12 RHS & part 13 LHS), which seems to agree with your photos.

The wire doesn't go through the stud. In one of the above photos, you can see the wire goes into the nacelle behind the turn signal.

I will pull the lens off one of the turn signals and remove the bulb to check if the nut (# 4) is inside of the turn signal housing. Thanks for the diagram!

The nut is not inside the housing . It’s on the outside and is fo locking the light in its correct position. Only the stud screws into the housing by turning the light body itself. Then you hold the light and tighten tension nut. You only unplug the din plug for the process.Hope this helps you.

thank you! I will double check, but memory tells me there wasn’t a visible nut between the turn signal post and bracket. I’ll have to get an inspection mirror and search behind the nacelle to see if there is extra wire stuffed behind there. If so, then that may give me enough to turn the turn signal to back it off the post without cutting wires? It’ll be this weekend before I get to look at it.

Thanks for the input!

edit: I missed the part about unplugging the din connector. I’ll have to locate it. That would make it simple.

Unplug connector and depin it. Been awhile since I’ve worked on a fat boy but you have to take shroud off if I remember. Surely there’s somebody on here that’s done this will set you straight.
