I have a 2002 fatboy. It has the old style Vance and Hines 2 inti 1 pro pipe. because that pipe is discontinued they do not make any quiet baffles for this pipe. The pipe sounds fine at idle but when cruising down the highway at 60 plus mph it sounds horrible, exactly the sound of a helicopter flying over the house. Can anyone tell me what would be the best sounding exhaust for this bike. I want a fairly good rumble but also fairly quiet. I cant go with slip ons as I dont have the original exhaust and cant find one.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Go to a couple bike nights or bike ride events ...... listen until a set of pipes catches your ear... I'm sure the bike's owner would love to tell you all about his exhaust....
For my taste, I ended up with a Rinehart 2-1 exhaust (#200-0200) on my 2003 Heritage with a 95" big bore kit... To me, it was the right combination of loudness & sound.
Over the years, I tried a Bassani 2-1 road rage, too quiet (but after selling it discovered I had a set with the quiet baffle), and originally put Vance & Hines Staggered Big Shots on it... (too loud)
Good luck with the search...

I had a buddy with a situation like that and he was short on funds. I welded extensions on the baffles and added holes as close as I could to match the existing ones. I made them just over 12" long. I then wired new packing back on the new baffle. Sounded great and he was happy. I got the pipe I needed at a muffler shop.
