My first Harley was a 2003 Heritage Classic. 29k and plenty of chrome upgrades. I paid just over $6k about 18 months ago. Plenty of tire tread, but were older than 7 years (great advice from hattitude). Cam shoes were not upgraded, stock pipes need updating and new tires added, so that added about $1600 once the bike was in my garage. I would ask for history - # of owners, maint info, anything major most likely will be documented, fresh fluids and see if they will do an extended warranty.
