New to the HD world and have found this site great in helping me choose my first Harley.
I've just ordered a black 2008 softail custom due to arrive here in Ozlate Sep early Oct. Can't believe the amount of stuff you can buy for these bikes - looks like buying the bike is the cheap part :-)
Anyway I've ordered the following:
V&H Big Shot Staggered pipes
Screaming Eagle A/C
SERT
Rear lowering kit
Steet Slammer bars
Brawler seat
Tri-bar LED tail light
Billet pegs & Grips - Narrow band
Thinking of going the 103 kit (inc cams) given it seems to be good value less the 15% discount being offered by my dealer. Appreciate any thoughts or advice here. Also my dealer is reluctant to put the pipes on when new as they claim it leaves them exposed if I get pulled over. I'm pressing them to put all the gear on when I ride away as I think it will look and sound great. Look forward to being part of the HD community.
Congrats on the bike. My '08 FB will be here 27 Aug. I too went with the V&H BSS. It's a good choice. As for leaving the dealer exposed, it's your bike and I totally agree with making the mods from get go. Enjoy
Welcome to the Elite FXSTC Club!! Grats on the new bike !!
Youve chosen a great Bike thats for sure. About the extras you've purchased I dont understand when you say the dealer is hesitant about putting the pipes on because it leaves them exposed? WTF is that? Anyways there shouldnt be any reason why they wouldnt.I could see if they wanted to wait till after the 1K Service before they did it for break in reasons ( Pipes , Sert , AC ). Dont forget to stop by in the FXSTC Forum and say Hi , oh and bring pics when you get the bike!!

In Australia it is Illegal to have LOUD aftermarket pipes on your bike, so dealers don't like to put them on a brand new bike , ride it out the door and bring it back and they will fit the pipes no problem.
