New (Old) Deuce (Some Concerns)
Also it has a Van Hines exhaust and a fi2000 tuner under the seat. I have never messed with s tuner so I am wondering if I need to be concerned with it. From what I read there is not maintenance and does not mess with the MAPS, and will allow me to add an air intake without having to do any tuning, Has anyone messed with this type of tuner?

Did you get service records / report with the bike?
Safe to say, had the dealer replaced the tires, they would not be "free"
Increase the cost of "reconditioning" and the price tag goes up.
O.P. did you check Dennis Kirk for Metzeler availability ? Metzeler Cruisetec`s are in stock in OE sizes , did not check the other models or sizes
Yes the stock rim can accommodate a wider tire

Also can I ask what you pay for the bike ?

Your Deuce will take a 180 (with NO mods) but I would check the tire Mfg's chart for min/max rim width.
The older belts should be replaced also ? No fun throwing a belt!

Hey guys, first post. Just bought a 07 Deuce with 4500 miles on it. The tires are 11 years old so I wanted to replace them.

Congrats on the new bike.... it should give you years of good service...
You are wise to change the tires, 11 years is really pushing the envelope... The general rule is 7 years, regardless of tread.. I tend not to skimp on a vehicle with only two tires between me and the ground..
However, if the tires are 11 years old... I'd bet big money your brake fluid hasn't been flushed and is long overdue also... You may want to flush both front and rear brake systems with new fluid..
I have no experience with the V&H fi200 tuner. I own a PowerVision tuner and have a license for each of my EFI bikes.
FWIW.... any tuner... whether it's a flash tuner that downloads a new map, or a piggyback tuner that fools the ECM into make adjustments to the current map... You are in fact "messing with the MAPS".. just different ways of doing it.. Even with a piggyback tuner, if you make a change to the airflow of your engine, it needs to know how much to "fool" the ECM to provide more fuel... or you will be running lean.. I suspect there are selections for various types/degrees of mods within that tuner.. I would call V&H, visit their website, or try to find a users manual online for that tuner, to learn what it's capabilities are, and how to adjust it for various mods...
Good luck with the new bike... Enjoy!!
