My wife's NEW 2020 Softtail 45 miles from dealer to home, put in garage, started a few times, put on battery tender. Went out to start yesterday calls for a code to be entered. NO IDEA WHY? put code from dealer in, started fine, WILL NOT ACCEPT me putting in new code as advised. Every time I have to put code in from dealer to start it. I have changed battery in FOB 3 times, still same issue? My local dealer is closed, anyone here have any ideas?
You can start the the bike without the fob present by entering your PIN, but you can't change the PIN without a working fob present. To eliminate the possibility of electromagnetic interference in your garage, start the bike with the PIN. Take a ride to an isolated area free of possible interference. Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 5 seconds. With the fob present, try a restart.
Really? Owners manual tells ya factory code and how to enter it. Remember that same owners manual had cut out card to put in your wallet, how to enter the code should you ever lose the FOB.
RTFM?
I had a problem when I picked up the new SG. The bike started and I had the fob hanging on my keychain.. The next day I went to the garage to start the bike up. It started up without any problems, but I forgot the fob. Tried starting the bike again without the fob nearby and it started. Then I also noticed the security key on the dash was not flashing. Took it back to the dealer and they re-program the fob with the bike. No more problems.
Dayum...didnt have a bike with a FOB until now. First thing I did was read the owners manual. Lose the FOB, batteries die, what do ya do do?
Theres a cut out card on the manual for your wallet. even tells ya how to change it and write it down on the card in case if you have a limited mind.
Noww, I'm messin with ya

FYI. There is no such thing as a "factory code". The initial PIN is established at the dealership level during PDI fob assignment. Every dealership has their own protocol for creating an initial PIN, and it varies by dealership. Your dealer may have written your PIN in your owner's manual, but it doesn't appear in print, wallet cards or elsewhere.

You are correct theres no printed code in that owners manual. The dealer usually writes it in.
It's my understanding Harley puts a standard factory preset PIN code and it is usually 31313, the dealer may change it to whatever they choose.

Why are you starting it if you're not going to ride it? Not good for your motor as been stated many times on the Forum. Better plan on a trip back to the dealer with the bike.
