I commute on my '07 Fatboy everyday....and last night when I got home, my stock back seat was gone!!! It must've fallen off while I was riding home, WTF!!!?!?!?! The rear screw that holds the seat in place was gone too, now I just have this dirty mark on my rear fender. I think the bike looks better now, but how the hell did the rear seat come off?!?! This bike isn't even 4 months old yet.......it's just not right.
I will be calling the dealer today to see what they can do. Hope this never happened to anyone else..........
Sorry to tell you, the screw got loose and it fell off. How is that the dealers fault? It is your fault for not checking out your bike. Is it the dealers fault when the tire pressure drops or the bike needs oil added? Good news is those pads are all over Ebay.
I would still try to get the dealer to help here.
Yea. its not thier fault, but, you could argue that ensuringall bolts and screws are secured, is part of dealer prep, also, Im sure they have a few just lying around.
Bad deal, but it's hard to imagine how all the bolts came loose at once.
The rear pad is attached to the drivers seat with two bolts that are attached from the bottom up. Even if they came loose, on mine there wouldn't be enough room for them to fall all the way out.
And of course, there is the bolt in the rear of the pad that holds it to the rear fender.
At least that is how it is on my 2003 FatBoy.
Here is a picture of the stock setup to show what I mean.

I don't get this one..... 3 bolts came loose? Two of which, (the 2 torx bolts are loc-tited in place, and can not back out without hitting the fender first?Lastly how could you not feel the pillion all of a sudden missing up against your back? Sorry, but I think your dealer is going to tell you to go pound sand...... but it never hurts to politely just ask...
'07s dont directly bolt to the driver seat. The passenger seat has two "U" shaped brackets that wrap around two thumb screws that hold down the rear of the driver seat. The passenger seat is really only secured by the rear screw. Hence, lose the screw, lose the passenger seat. However, those thumb screws should be tight enough to hold the fron of the passenger seat pretty well. You better check those before you end up with your driver seat wanting tocome off!
