However, those thumb screws should be tight enough to hold the fron of the passenger seat pretty well.
Hmm, I think on my Springer the U tabs on the back seat just side into slots on the front seat thumb screws, they arent actually screwed down under the thumb screws. That's how my Mustang seat also works, so that the only thing really securing the passenger pad is the rear screw.

As he said, though, the motorcycle looks better with a solo seat, so unless you ride 2-up it's just as well to take off the back pad anyway. I will have to make sure to add a seat screw check into my riding checklist, though, since the thought of my seat just falling off is a bit scary.

If the dealer did the 1,000 mile service, you might just have a beef with them if it wasn't too long ago. If not, then just chalk it up to experience.

Just got a call back from my dealership! They are going to replace my seat for me free of charge, OR I can upgrade to a new seat with the same credit. Two thumbs up for Harley of Glendale!!! I totally agree it's not their fault, but I was hoping they would give me a break, and they did!!!

I'm on the harley site now checking out the seats I might upgrade to........
