Heel/Toe Shifter
Hey guys I have been only riding for a few years. I always have trouble getting my bike into neutral for some reason. Someone mentioned a heel/toe shifter and I do need a new shifter. The original looks like ****. What are your opinions on great brands and simple? I have spent some time looking and I really just want stock looking but black. nothing fancy. Thanks for your help.
First off make absolutely certain your clutch is adjusted properly. ( owners manual or service manual ) Then make sure your primary is not over filled with oil. Oil level should just be at the clutch basket when the bike is upright level. Too high a level can cause drag and keep clutch discs in motion. Check to see if your shifter is sitting loose on the spline shaft where it's mounted. If you think yours is worn out Harely makes black anodized arms for your heel/toe shifter as well as the rod from there to the transmission shift point. Is the rod from shifter to trans adjusted at correct length?
I can confirm, I can never find neutral other than by tapping my heal shifter down! never knew why, never bothered to ask, I do accept that my bike has its own personality
but I am subscribing to this thread maybe there is a solution somewhere!
Too thick of fluid will cause clunky shifting and hard to find neutral. Causes the bike to try creeping forward with the clutch pulled too. It's called stiction.
Personally I think the stock 50wt. called for is too thick. Especially in cooler weather.
