Softail not starting. No click
I am assuming a faulty switch or bad connection but don't know which one. Have gone through the manuals but cannot find a reference to it.
Any help would be appreciated.THX
The "wire plug" near the oil filter is the CPS (Crank Position Sensor)... It's a Hall effect switch that senses the crank position/movement via the flywheel. if it goes bad, your bike won't start. It will usually throw a code, but I've read where it has gone bad without throwing a code...
I'm not saying that is your problem, but since it did start after "wiggling" the CPS wire, I figured I'd pass on this info to help with your diagnosis of your issue.
There's a procedure for testing it, and it's easy to change out..
Here's a video I found by Twin Power that talks a bit about the crank position sensor, shows one on a bike, and how to change it...
This is a commercial for the Twin Power Crank Position Sensor, and while I haven't used one, I would be replacing mine with an OEM HD sensor. It's one of the products where I stick with the HD OEM part. I've had a few bikes and none have needed a CPS... So the OEM, by my experience, is a known commodity and a good unit...

the battery is one year old and the CTEK charger indicates that it is good. I also tested the battery with a battery load tester and it came out good.
Yes there is an alarm system which was switched off. If I normally try to start engine without switching it off the alarm will sound.

Has the alarm always sounded when you try to start the engine?
I sounds like the security system is not enabling the ground for the starter relay.
Even after the battery tested positive I have decided to change it for a new one. Will let you know tomorrow, Also ordered a new start relay.
