Horn/Starter Engage Relation?
I don't think this is by design because of the randomness of the occurrence, but here goes. I have a 2013 Heritage Classic. I bought it used and have owned it for 2 years or so. The battery is almost new and I keep it on a smart charger. Occasionally, if I haven't ridden in a while, I turn on the power, the fuel pumps up, the trans is in neutral, I press the start button and all is silent. I tap the horn button, then the start button brings the engine to life. The first time it happened I accidentally stumbled on this in frustration by just pressing and operating every button on the bike. I found that every time it won't start, just blow the horn for a micro second, and then the start button works as it should. I first chalked it up to some security measure programmed into the bike because it only happened if it had sat for a few weeks or days. What relationship has the horn circuit and the start circuit have in common, a bad ground that is awaken or biased by the activation of the horn?? Weird to say the least. It has never failed to start otherwise. Where are the ground points that I may need to look at? Could it be something else?
