Adjusting Toe Shifter.

Adjusting Toe Shifter.
Hello! I’m new here and a new Harley owner. I just retired and am here to realize my dream .
I rode a lot of dirt bikes and my toe shifter was always level with the foot rest. On my 2021 softail standard FXTS, how do I adjust the lever down and will it go level with the foot rest?

Unscrew that nut in the far right of the picture on the shift lever, slide the bolt out. Slide the shift lever off the shaft carefully, and ever so slightly rotate it counter clockwise one spline and push the lever back on the shaft. See how you like it before bolting it back on. Move it as many splines as you want. Bolt it back on good and snug. Maybe even use some blue loctite on the bolt once you are sure you are happy with the location.
You want to be sure you are unhappy with it as it is before attempting this. Mine is jacked up in the air because I wear big honking steel toed boots riding my bagger, and can’t get my foot under it otherwise.

might want to ride it a while before adjusting it .
Dirt bike riding is a lot of standing up on the pegs.
when I rode dirt the levers were angled down for easy reach when standing, and also the shifter was level as to reach with feet pointed level and down.
street riding is 99% on the seat, so levers and shifter moved up for easiest reach while sitting .
hope this helps

You received some good advice...... As pointed out by others, you can move the shifter as described, to a position comfortable for you...
But I will add, look at the shifter lever in your pic. Due to the curve in that shifter, if you start rotating it so the shift peg is lower in relation to the foot peg, make sure you don't rotate it too much. It would be possible to rotate it to the point where it won't have enough room to downshift the trans before hitting the foot peg mount... That would kind of suck
Feel free to "make it your own", that's part of the Harley experience.....
Enjoy the new bike...!!!
