question my first softail Fat BOY 2011 16" Apes the full dish rims etc .wondering about preload on rear shocks ? bought it with solo seat changed seat out the wife and i are on freeway in dirty air be it semi truck or passenger vehicles bike very wiggley frontend and back could this be from no preload we wiegh in as a couple around 400lbs how important is preload and will in ruin shocks if we keep riding it this way i have spanner wrench coming

Could be a couple of things. One is that the weight with both of you riding is substantial, and rearward, which changes the characteristics of the bike's stability at speed because of the lightened front end, and changing the ride height (steering geometry). Also, you have a disc wheel in dirty air, so you are probably getting some sideways pushing on your steering from the wheel. The 2 issues could be working together to make it less stable in turbulent air.

What is this dirty air you guys are talking about?

Hey Road Master dirty air is a term for the turbulents coming off of Semis and larger vehicles
