Just a quick question, is the mounting bar on the front of the softail frame supposed to be straight like my Dyna or is it bowed like in the picture?
This is the ol' ladies 2016 Softail Slim S
I have seen insurance companies total a bike when that tab gets bent. Did you buy this bike used? I would go over it good to make sure there isn't any other damage to the frame.

I wouldn't think it could be determined that a bike is totaled just because the engine guard bracket is bent.

My friend works in a dealership and has had that happen to bikes that have come in for repairs after an accident. That is a mount plate for the crash bar but it also holds the front down tubes in alignment if it gets bent it can put stress on the down tubes. I just rebuilt a bike that had that plate bent and ordered a new frame from HD. The crash bar on the bike was bent back enough that it was hitting the floor board when I got the bike. When I measured the frame it was about 1/8th inch out of square. I didn't think it was to bad until I went to cut the neck off to send in for the matching VIN and the backbone tube sprung up 3/4 of an inch.
I'm not saying his is that bad, but for piece of mind I would do some measuring.......
