Good morning all , this is my first thread, i am about to purchase a 1990 fatboy, it’s been a bit of a dream bike for me and here in the uk I have found one within budget , one issue…. The owner has had the bike for years and has sprayed it black, it was originally grey so I wanted to ask were all 1990 fat boys grey ghost or were some made in just grey?
a few years ago the bike was stored in a workshop and some paint and electrics were damaged so he bought from his mate got it working and re sprayed in black?
bike looks awesome but I wanted to check where can I get detailed history? HPi checks don’t give me all the details I am after really
The gray paint color for a 1990 Fatboy was called Fine Silver Metallic.
If you know the VIN, you can run it through the VIN decoder and it may tell you the name of the original color the bike came with from the factory. Let us know what you find out,
This is what it should look like. The VIN will tell you 100% if it is the real deal. If it has been painted. If the yellow bands are gone it has little value. Painted molested it is worth maybe $1,'000. Excellent original condition $10,000 or more. If would be a cool bike to own if it was in original condition.
