I have a 2014 Deluxe and just bought the Smart siren and pager. It was suppose to be an easy install and plug and play. but the instructions and diagram are not close to helpful or correct. Has anyone put one on a 2014 Deluxe or Heritage? I found one plug on the lower right side below the oil tank but it has a purple 4 pin connector by the pipes that is the right shape but the alarm has a 3 pin. The direction say take off the mud guard on the opposite side of this plug. The directions say all softails connection is on the rear fender. Please help if you know where a video is I can watch that covers my bike.
Scroll past half way down to Softail models Remove two bolts at the bottom of the splash guard. Bend the upper right corner of the splash guard toward the rear tire. Lift to unhook the splash guard from the tab on the rear fork. Remove the guard from beneath the fender.
No mention of removing the mudguard.
I believe the image from the instructions shows the electrical panel from an earlier model.
Your electrical panel should look like the image below. The siren connector should be stored in the receptacle to the right of the siren mount.
All I will add is...installing on my 2017 Dyna was a breeze (easy access), but the 2020 Heritage is a huge PITA. Ended up tearing most of the parts/pieces/crap around battery tray. Enjoy!
Thanks, that gets me a little further understanding with the better pictures. My bike is still different from the instructions in that the mud guard has one allen screw not two bolts. The screw is stuck solid with 7 years of water splashing on it. I have penetrating oil on it, but not to hopeful. It looks like it is a waste and I will have to wait for my rear tire to need replacing and have it done then. Plug and play simple, install is far from true. Thanks again for your help.
