95 degrees ambient is nothing for these bikes. Yeah, it’s uncomfortable for you, but we’ve been in 114 dry…and the bike did fine. We were extremely uncomfortable, but stayed hydrated, And stopped at mini mart gas stations regularly to wet our cool scarves, fill water bottles, and down a Gatorade.

Theres no reason to shut the bike off to keep it from going into EITMS mode…its likely harder on the bike shutting it off & on.

How does one know if it's down to one cylinder at idle at a stop?

Did the OP and her husband recover?
Did they make it to a cool spot for refreshments?
Did they make it home?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Yes, we made it home just fine. Took a couple days to recover. The heat index was based on the temp and the super high humidity. 95° with 65% humidity. Look up heat index calculator. And my numbers were conservative. We stopped every 50 or so miles to refuel (my wife rides a sporster72 with a two gallon tank) and drink water and Gatorade. It just zapped it out of us. We couldn't ride at night because she had to be home in time for her baby daddy to show up with our 8yr old. Oh in case your wondering we are both women. I was so out of it I forgot I even posted this. Thanks everyone.

95 degrees with 65% relative humidity is every day during SW FLorida summer-in fact the relative humidity typically runs as high at 80%. This is every day, might cool off for a little while if it rains, but doesn't help the humidity. Considering normal skin temperate is is 93 degrees, ambient temperature will act to heat you up, not cool you off, at least not without help from hydration, covering up, and some sort of evaporative aid like sweating and/or a cooling vest.

I personally solve the problem by taking the F-150 when it gets that hot, with the bikes in the garage waiting for cooler weather-they can take the heat and humidity but riding in those conditions is just not fun for an ATGATT rider like me.

BTW there is a outstanding article regarding heat management while riding, it's been posted in this Forum any number of times. An excellent read, and a search should be able to pull it up.

We experienced an unusually hot summer up here on the Canadian prairies. Temps were 90+F for weeks on end, nearly reaching 100 a few times. I bought a 2001 Heritage in June and quickly discovered that it runs a hell of a lot hotter than my old 80" shovel did, so there were a lot of days I simply didn't ride. I live in the inner city so to get out to rural highways I have to ride through stop and go traffic, not fun at all. I find the older I get the less I like super hot temps. Glad that you made it home okay.

Yeah I was riding in downtown Calgary a couple weeks ago- it was hot!- and I was sitting at a light, one of many, when I noticed my engine light came on on my speedo cluster. It kinda freaked me out and I couldn't get out of downtown fast enough. And yes my bike was hot! I noticed that ever since I had the 117 kit put in my Slim S it runs hotter than the stock 110. So my question would be is would a higher octane fuel/additive help in those temperature?

Actually, it would be strange if it wasn't hotter.......

Obviously, with all engines set up the same/similar, with a good tune, the higher the displacement, the warmer the engine will be.....

Generally speaking...... More displacement = more air/fuel = more power = more heat

My 2016 103" Ultra Classic in OEM form, was much hotter than my 1978 74" FXS shovelhead.... and yet, back then I thought that FXS bike was hot in the summer....

There are exceptions, especially where the tune is very different... My 2016 Ultra Classic runs cooler with a 124" crate motor, dyno tuned by Jaime @ Fuelmoto, than it did with the OEM 103 w/OEM tune... and the displacement and power are much more with the 124" engine..

As for octane, same engine with different octane will not run cooler. The octane affects the spark knock/detonation/pinging of the engine. Higher octane generally allows for more spark advance. If your engine is properly tuned for a specific octane, run that octane. A lower octane could ping, and a higher octane will be a waste of money.... If the bike is not tuned properly, and is pinging..... an additive or higher octane fuel can help with the pinging, but it is not a substitute for a proper tune.... IMHO
