Speedometer replacement on '13 Fat Boy

Default Speedometer replacement on '13 Fat Boy
Bought the pretty new speedo/tach combo unit from HD and have tried to install, but I just can't get the stupid gasket to stay in place when pushing the speedo into place. Anyone have this experience and have successfully replaced the speedo and kept gasket where it should be? If you've tried doing this, you'll know what I'm talking about for sure....

Any kind of lubricant safe to put on the gasket to let the speedo housing slide in better? I'm afraid to use anything that might degrade the rubber gasket over time. Doing it dry seems next to impossible. thanks!

I used a little bit of cable wax on the gasket, and it pushed down in place. Cable wax is an excellent lube for pulling wires through handlebars.

Turns out the soapy water did the trick.
