Default Rear primary noise.

When my 2007 softball Deluxe is going down the road, Especially at lower RPM's the primary in the rear sounds like a jetsons flying car. When I pull in a clutch at stops. I took it apart to the baring. Shaft rolls fine when in gear and neutral. Maybe a hint of ticking. Would this be enough to cause the teetering sound from the clutch. I can feel the noise on the derby cover while riding? 17,k and chain tension seems good.

Is the bike new to you? Did the noise just start? To me it sounds like you are hearing/feeling the balancer. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

If the bike makes noise with clutch out sitting still in neutral and then stops when the clutch is pulled in i would be thinking the inner primary bearing. I would take a look at the cltch hib bearing too while i had it apart.

The bike is new to me. The previous owner had passed. The bike sat a little while before I got it. I rode it with insufficient oil in the primary entrance for about 25 minutes. The noise only happens when I'm riding it down the road and pressure is on the drive train. And it is definitely coming from the clutch area except everything seems fine and the bearing on the clutch spins for days.

I also checked the rear axle alignment and bought a belt tensioner tool to check the deflection at 10 pounds.. I'm new to Harley's and and I'm having trouble locating locating this noise source. So frustrating.

What does this mean....?

Was your primary fluid low a few ounces...? Or was your primary empty...?

Overfilling is bad too, did you fill it to the proper level..?

Thanks for the response. I understand all the maintenance requirements now I am just not able to find any information on the noise that only happens while cruising with the clutch lever out.
