I had about 300 miles on my 07 Softtail Custom when I found this
Forum. I read about the heat these 96 cube engines put out....I took
it over to my Harley dealer and had them install a oil cooler...280 bucks plus labor....ouch !!!
I did notice an immediate temperture difference. Around the 600 mile
mark I installed..(yes..I installed) a set of Vance and Hines Big Shot
Staggered exhausts and the fuel pak...and the Harley stage one intake. I really don't know what the temp is now but its ALOT less than it was when I first drove it home.
I've got a 93 Fatboy that I installed the cooler below on from Jireh Cycles. With that cooler and running Mobil 1, the oil temp hasn't gotten over 185. Rode about 200 miles yesterday two up and it never got hot. Cost under $100 to install myself with braided hose.
