Well, I came into an issue this past weekend. For some reason it never crossed my mind that debris from the cam bearing could be in the oil tank. So, since already paid to have it powder coated, I'm not throwing i tout and buying a new one. I bought a magnet on a flexible stick. I spent 5 hours flushing and fishing for metal debris until I was satisfied the tank was clean. Here is some of the debris I fished out.
Will you be putting the 100th tins back on the bike?
No, The front fender was damaged from him riding into a ditch one day. The rear I was trying to sell, but it got damaged in my garage before I could. I had the tank up for sale or trade, with no offers...so the badges came off and it was sanded down and painted.
I was able to have the tins painted by one of the painters at work. It was a short week and the bosses were gone. I'll have it professionally painted later, but I currently don't have the $650 the guy wanted.
We had some left over metallic orange from a fleet of units we built a couple years ago. Upside, free paint job, down side...the metal flake was probably all stuck in the bottom of the can. Without a shaker to really mix it up, it came out just orange. LOL

I'm curious....
I didn't notice if you already mentioned it..... but how much debris did you find when you split the cases....??
I finally got the tank cleaned out and installed. That took way longer and was much harder than I imagined. I think I put it in and pulled it out no less than 5 times. Fine a wire that needed to go under it, or the oil drain hose that was pointing out the front of the tank. Just dumb ****.
