Default Mid Frame Air Deflectors vs Heat Sheids?

First question: I see both advertised but I don't understand the difference. What is the differnce? Second question: Do either work? Last question: My wife finds the heat coming off her (new to us) 2016 Fatboy S uncomfortable when stopped, which would be the better option. The bike has 4,200 miles on it and the previous owner installed V&H Short Shots. I may take it to my local shop and make sure it is tuned correctly, he claims he get get any bike to run cooler that is not properly tuned. He uses Thunder Max tuners. Thanks in advance.

Captain Itch leather heat shield. Worked so much better than the plastic deflectors

Captain Itch made a custom heat shield for the wife's Yamaha and I have one on my 03EG. Makes riding in the SW heat much more comfortable. A big +1 on these!

Tried a set of deflectors and they didn't seem to do much when just sitting still but did help when moving. The crotch cooler works both sitting still and moving and they look great on the bikes.

I always thought that is just part of riding a Harley. I get hot when it's hot, I get wet when it rains, I get cold when it's cold, at intersections my leg gets hot, my *** hurts from the seat, my hands go numb, my bike vibrates, it's loud as hell, but she's beautiful and makes me forget all the things in my life and for that moment in time I am the king of the world.

That particular bike is extremely hot period. Changing the pipes and tuning help a little but adding an oil cooler(fan assisted) and possibly head fans go a long way.

I too have bought a Crotch Cooler from Cpt Itch. It definitely cuts down on hot air coming up from the engine and also the radiating heat toasting my right inner thigh.
An oil cooler would also help. Anything to keep the engine running a few degrees lower. I have an oil cooler behind my solo seat. It helps, especially in our Texas summers.
