Issues after Stage 2 Upgrade
I decided to upgrade my 2018 Softail Heritage Deluxe over the winter at my local HD dealer. I picked it up two weeks ago and got about 2 miles before there was a full oil blow out all over the bike and road. They took it back into the shop and said that it was an O ring issue and said that it was fixed. Took it out yesterday and its blowing black smoke and spitting oil again so I take it back in. They now state that something was not properly aligned and that my fuel pressure regulator needed to be replaced.
When I dropped off my bike in November, it ran beautifully, I just wanted more power. I do regular maintenance at the HD Dealer where I bought the bike new.
They now want to charge me for the fuel pressure regulator replacement and labor even though there were zero issues prior to them doing the upgrade. I am finding it hard to believe that the fuel pressure regulator went bad from sitting in a heated garage in HD storage over the winter. Is this an issue that could have come as a result of the work done on the engine for the upgrade?
Thanks!

Given your customer history and how it blew oil after the upgrade my thought is they should forego the labor on the regulator ( although I`m not sure how that makes it "spit oil" )

I’d be more concerned with the impact to the motor running dry. And I don’t see how a fuel pressure regulator, whatever that is, would cause the bike to barf out motor oil.
It's just upsetting that it ran perfectly prior to them having it over the winter for the upgrade. I'm regretting my decision to have the upgrade done now. $3500 was the cost of my confidence in my bike's ability to make it from Green Bay, WI to the Trail of the Dragon in July.
