I'm new here. I have looked for a backrest from the dealer catalog. The only way to get the driver backrest is to buy the whole seat for $500. I could be wrong though. just sayin. see the other thread where someone has asked about this one on e-bay.

Thanks Mike, you the man This is great , i looked in the 2007 catalog & the # for the TALL riderbackrest pad is 52827-97 for $114.95 & the # for the LOW pad is 52826-97 for $89.95 , if anyone else is wondering. this will definatly increase my time in the saddle, ive had 2 back surgery's & about 20 shots in my back in past 7 to 8 years for the pain . well im off to the HD shop to order the tall pad & seat rail for my 2005 deluxe . you made me night mike , hope you have a GREAT night to . Thanks again , Bob

Install the Heritage Springer Seat and you will thank me even more.... The stock Deluxe seat didn't cut it on longer rides. Some guys from here have had the deluxe seat worked on to make it more comfortable as well.

When you install the Springer rail and backrest, you can adjust it by adding a spacer to the center rail, above the mounting plate. For the wifes Deluxe, I added a 3/4" chrome spacer, and a longer bolt to make it fit her better. You are basicilly moving the top of the pad forward by adding the spacer, It works..

Try it with simple washers until you get the right size, then go out and buy a spacer to that specification.

Thanks for all the replies , didnt think of adding spacers to get the right angle on backrest pad .im going to try the rail & backrest pad first , before purchasing the seat too . looks like its cheaper to buy the seat& rail by itself . the price of seat & rail combo is more than the seat & rail purchased seperatly . You might look into a custom-seat-maker in your area. There are lots of them nation wide.........Rich's did mine and it's SUPER-EASY to take off and on.........plus, it's way more adjustable than the Springer-Rail and back-rest system. I really like the looks of the Springer set-up, but there really isn't any adjustment compared to other options.

Just my .02

The only thing I know to be different on the Pre 2000 year seats is the front Tab that slides under the tank. I'm told that it can be bent to fit 2000 and up frames but I figured it was best to go with a seat that I knew would fit without any adjustments. But if a good deal comes up on aPre 2000 seat it might be worth a shot. You could always resell it. I was actually looking into getting one of the seats with the Blue Trim which were only available pre-2000.
