Default Heritage Backrest

I have seen some aftermarket backrests for the stock seat on Ebay.
Is any one using one and how good are they?

here is the link. I just finished looking at this and came over here to ask the same question. Then I see you have done my work for me. Thanks. I might just buy it and see. Don't have a monkey's butt, but why risk it?

Never used it (bought a Mustang saddle with a backrest), but a couple of things come to mind looking at it. One, it bolts to the factory seat...the factory seat is honestly (sorry if I offend anyone here) crap. Take a look at any aftermarket seat pan and you'll find metal or fiberglass...the stock seat has a plastic pan which flexes. Second, I can't imagine that this piece would make long distance travel any more comfortable since the stock seat still sucks after 300 miles.

The description also claims, "no more monkey butt"...don't see how a backrest is going to solve monkey butt since that's irritation caused by sweat and friction (see swamp ***).

If I were gonna go that direction and not upgrade the seat, I'd send the stock seat in to modified to make it more comfortable and then add the backrest.

As for the cost of upgrading the seat...I paid a lot less than the $500 they say it cost to upgrade the saddle...I think I paid around $300 (around $400 when I also upgraded the passenger seat).

Take this post for what it's worth.

Did you go to someone local to upgrade your stock seat or send it away? I'd like to get a new one all together either a Mustang or Corbin but financially it's not in the cards right now.

I actually upgraded to a Mustang saddle, so I've never went the seat mod route, but I've heard a lot of good things from other forum members about Mean City Cycles http://www.meancitycycles.com/. Do a search on the forums for mean city cycles and / or seat mods...likely to come up with some good info.
