19 fxbrs. While riding I noticed my right signal wouldn’t work and the engine light was on. After parking for lunch and attempting to start the bike, it wouldn’t start or even prime.
Got it to a garage. Battery is good. Sometimes the bike will prime and I’m able to enter the diagnostics mode to check codes but I can’t start it. I’m getting ECM and BCM code U01042c. Clearing the code doesn’t do anything. The right signal nor the hazards (on the right controls) work, so I’m guessing my problem is the right controls somehow.

Any ideas?
It’s a long shot. But thought I would mention. I had the same thing happen to my bike. Bike wouldn’t start, dead as a door nail. Electrical issues all over. Dealership stripped the bike down all over. Troubleshooting ECM and BCM. Still nothing. After disassembling most of the electrical systems, the tech came across the issue. The cell phone mount I put on my handlebars was not carefully put on by me. I accidentally pinched wires between the clamp and the bar. I thought for sure I didn’t do that. But I did. Cause very bad electrical issues after riding for about 100 miles.
Based on the code you listed, the right hand control has lost communication with the ECM and or BCM. I'd check the wire connector and go from there. If there is nothing obvious, it's likely the control itself.
So I was able to jump it by having some friends help push it to speed. I rode it right to the shop.
We checked a bunch of the wires, fuses, and even took off the controls, but nothing helped. So I’m letting the shop take a crack at it.
While riding it, the engine light was on and the right turn signal and hazards didn’t work. Left worked though, so it’s obviously something wrong with the right side.
