Good evening, I am planning on adding a foot clutch/ hand shift, undecided on jockey or tank yet. Since I cant seem to find a company that makes foot clutches for a 2000-2006 that is still in business or still makes them, can all yall that have done it post some pictures of your setup? I wanted to buy a LaBriola set up . Thanks everyone
Back in the 70s, I used to ride a friend's panhead bike with the foot clutch and hand shift.... It was a pain, probably dangerous in certain situations, but I was young, stupid, invincible, and thought it was a ton of fun....!!!
I've searched from time to time, over the last 15 years or so, looking for a set-up where I could duplicate that panhead rocker foot clutch and just move the shifter to the trans like on that old bike.... but I have yet to find one..
Most frustrating to me was that most kits I did find don't have that rocker foot clutch set-up. They just use a push/release foot pedal, that works the clutch cable.... it's just not the same to me... I've never seen one that works with the HD hydraulic clutch set-up.
Lately, many of the better kits I looked at years ago, are no longer made... not sure if it's a liability issue, or just a complete lack of demand for the product...
Good luck with your search... post up if you find something that will work well....
Cannot comment on hydraulic but many years ago my friend had a big crazy Evo chopper. He had the jockey shift handle off the transmission for shifting. He bought an original HD rocker clutch setup at a swap meet and fabricated a mount to get it to bolt up to his early Softail frame. And there he was with a rocker clutch.
If the rocker is really what you want, and I do recommend over the usual suicide clutch pedal, go find a nice original one from the MoCo than figure out how to mount it to your bike. The cable has a ferrel at the end with an eye hook that just slips onto a stud on the rocker mechanism. So after figuring out mounting, a custom cable should be the only thing in your way. Good luck.
Ill be watching this thread.
I had a La Briola on my 05 and loved it.
It appears hes no longer doing them.
So far it seems that Im going to be building my own suicide clutch. It appears there are enough people who have routed the stock length cable behind the motor towards the front, attached it to the shifter arm, cut down, and then dabbed up a bracket to support the cable. Once I get the footboard conversion done, I believe this is the way that I will be going.
