I just picked up a 2008 Anniversary FXSTC with 19.5k miles. The dealer is installing new tires on Saturday. The forks are very soft and track sloppy - What oil do you guys use. Im about 215 lbs and ride solo. I searched and didnt see anything on this.
I have the same bike. Close attention has to be paid to the head bearings. It isn't always obvious they are loose. I also found the stock bars to amplify the vague steering. I switched to T-bars (street slammers) and it tightened up my steering considerably.
Check your service or owners manuals to see whats recommended.
If you dont have a service and owners manual then that should be your next purchase.
On my 09 Heritage the manual states to use type E.
That seems to work fine for me @245 lbs.

Also, youre going to want to use new compression washers just to insure you dont get a leak at the drain screws.
You can get a kit with new screws and washers from HD for I think around $8 or go to Harbor Freight and buy a copper washer kit for $7.
