Fat boy tin swap
last year I managed to accidentally hit the back of my wifes fat boy while my brother-in-law was riding it. He a new rider. panicked in a tight spot, and hit the brakes unexpectedly. Needless to say the rear fender of her fat boy got crunched. Thankfully my road glide came out mostly unscathed.
Its a 2009 Fatboy. I managed to find somebody selling 2007 Fatboy tins on eBay for $600 which generally should fit as thats when they swapped to a 200 rear tire. thats when the real problem started. Apparently the tanks are different for mounting the fuel pump. They also have significantly different fuel pump set ups. My whole point was to avoid having to repaint things and my wife really like the yellow color from 2007. I found most of the original fuel pump, and M waiting for a sending unit to ship in. This is cheaper than the alternative a painting an entire set. Just wondering if anybody here has had to make such a swap, and if there might be a better fuel pump option. I am also curious if anybody can think of any other hangups that I might hit in the near future once I (hopefully( get the parts all together. Thanks advance.
