checked cylinder head temps after a 50 mile ride a couple of weeks ago. To my amazement both cylinders were around 415 degrees.
Called my dealer and the parts manager wants me to buy a SERT and have bike Dyno tested to the tune of $800.00. Called another dealer and was told warranty should be looked at and not nto ride until fixed.
So called my salesman and he thought the same but wanted to speak to dealership owner about the problem.
Plugs are white and bike is running lean, anyone have any advice or cheaper fixes to the problem?
I would recommend going with a dynojet PC III, but not sure about the config for your pipes and that is important to which map you select. Sounds like Harley has ditched SE exhaust cause they just cannot produce something to compete with folks like Vance and Hines.
I stripped my SE pipes and put on Big Shot Longs, with quiet baffles, then put on the PC III with a map specially designed for that config, and it is SO NICE!!!
It runs at about 180 - 210 oil temp now, no decel pop and loads of torque.
SERT will so something similar, but is designed especially for SE parts. So the recommendation might be legit, but I don't trust things like this coming out of HD as they have EPA and other limitations that just don't let you get the most out of your bike ...
two cents,

if your bikes fuel injected, then the heat management system should have kicked in. that will make three attempts to cool down the motor. im in vegas, i was on the strip yesterday. while in hot weather and stand still traffic, my bike got to 275 degrees. the heat managment kicked in, the bike started to idle funny, miss, hesatate and run rough. i was able to get tothe harley cafe to let it rest for a hour. after that the bike ran fine. get a temp. gauge dip stick, their just a rough reference to let you know the temp. your temp it should have blown up. good luck though..
