Default True Duals

Ok...... put em on many bikes but never really got into the good / Bad of them. I wanted to go with V&H but they discontinued the true duals for heritage softails (pre 18 anyway) Ive got the V&H on it now and am looking for something quieter.....
Yes quieter, I do some long rides on my 15 Heritage & after 4-500 miles my right ear had enough.

not looking for putting wads of paper or hearing plugs in, just though a nice low end growl of an exhaust that goes out the back of the bike would be good, dont wanna give up power - my 02 RKC has the V&H but I think exhausting out the back takes away that side ear constant blasting.

so............... Freedom performance true dual pro race exhaust is what I was looking at. any one have any experience with this particular set up & if so how do you like them?

Thanks in advance.

Freedom performance true dual shark tails and I love them. After 4 years I have no complaints. I removed the baffles and installed Thunder Torque inserts and it's loud and deep.

A friend I ride with has a true dual install on his Street Glide from CFR Motorcycles. It's the deepest, coolest sounding bike I've heard. Definitely not loud but has that deep, low rumble that sounds bad azz. I like the sound of my bike until he fires up his bike.

If you can get the baffles out and wrap them with more material, it might would help with the noise. If not it won't cost a fortune to try this. Good luck.

I went with a Cobra "Bad Hombre" option True dual, from a Python Slash-cut setup. I love the sound, as you describe a deep, low rumble... I chose the Cobra product originally for price; however, the more I have reviewed other setups, I would do it again based on appearance, sound, and quality. I would recommend at least taking a look at the Cobra product.

Not to sound like an ***, but this doesn't offer much. Can you tell us what he's running?

I have the Freedom Performance true duals on my Fatboy. Powerwise, on a stock engine I can't tell a lot of difference, but I really got them for the look and the sound, and because I wanted to run hard bags. The 4" mufflers are a bit large for a naked Softail, but they look just about perfect with the bags. The upside to the big mufflers is that they have a deep tone that I like, but still are reasonably quiet cruising. I have the straight baffles in them so they will make some noise when you get in the throttle. All things considered, if I had to pick again, I wouldn't change a thing.

DAHoyle,

Nice pics & kinda just what I wanted, Now im just on the fence with doing this & riding 2 up 50 - 60% of the time. Ive done these for guys/gals but they basically were solo riders & I was spending their money. looking into what needs done on my Heritage is that I will have to remove the seat post, take out the coil bracket & relocate and then there is the passenger floor board on the clutch side which looks like it will need extended???? - as well I have after market bags with the standard heritage bracket. Also, stock shift linkage.

I remember & not sure which system I installed but the shift rod needed changed out?

so..... am I missing anything?
