A 1983 FXWG?

If so, it may well be one of the 1983 prototypes. Doubt they would have the "ST" stamp, or used one, prior to the production run started in 1984..

It looks real clean and doesn't seem to be a WG that was changed to a ST....

In any case, it's a real nice bike....! I'm a little jealous...

The 84 model year FXST's were out in 1983. What is the VIN number? They didn't stamp "FXWG" or FXST" in any frame or on any engine.

Your VIN should have the letters BH which indicates the model Softail.

My buddy had an 84 softail with a 4-speed & electric/kick start that he bought new... he always regrets selling that bike and always keeps his eye out a good used one for sale...

They also made the FXWG in 1983 and 1984 (last year), which were a swing arm bikes...

I have no idea why yours has the FXWG stamp, yours is clearly a softail.

What is the VIN (you can leave out the last five numbers) and what is it registered as....?
Harley continued to make the Wide Glide (Swing arm) in 1985 and a few in 1986. They modified the frame to accommodate the taller Evo engine and the Softail style
gas tanks. They were belt drive. The 86 WG had was the last Harley to have a kick starter.
There was also an FX model in the 1st part of 85. Narrow forks, Low Rider style dash. Very few though. At that time, they we rolling the Low Rider name towards the FXR line
