Wasn't perfect, but it worked good enough. Bonus... It only cost me $11.00 at the time. Extra bonus... it's small enough and out of the way that you don't really notice it's there.
Messing with the throttle friction screw on a Sportster is an accident waiting to happen, IMHO.
From barefoot website - This throttle tender fits all Harley Davidson models with the five pointed thumb screw. Easily installs in seconds and once engaged, allows the throttle to stay open without any hands being needed.
From HD manual - Do not tighten throttle friction adjustment screw to the point where the engine will not return to idle automatically.
There is something similar to the Atlas lock that also has a release when the brake lever is pulled.
I've used Atlas on 2 bikes now . . . because they came with it. The device is really well built and the front brake release hardware works quite well, but the price is a bit high regardless of quality.
Regretting the vista cruise purchase now. I can’t get it to let the throttle to release at all with the lock off. Should’ve listened to my instincts that you get what you pay for.
I've looked at a bunch and thinking Cruise Mate for me
2003 Fatboy here, I've been looking at all these options and most look excellent for what I would like/use but I'm leaning toward Cruise Mate Throttle lock simply for it's low profile, seemingly ease of use and it being chrome (chrome being my preference for any of my mods). I won't be using it much but will be a nice to have on the longer rides especially in the colder weather. Just my thoughts. Let us know what you do and how you like your choice.
