Default 02 sensor question

Greetings,

I have an 09 heritage , I had the ECM flashed , new cams and dyno tuned along with bassani 2 into 1 exhaust installed. The installer plugged the 02 sensors. it been about 8 months and the bike is now running very rich. Plugs are fouled ands stink of gas. Should i put the 02 sensors back in ??
Thanks in advance?

It depends...

Was the person who plugged the O2 sensors, also the person who dyno tuned the bike....???

It is not unheard of to tune a bike in all open loop (no O2 sensor feedback), turn off O2 sensor feedback, and then remove the O2 sensors... If the bike was tuned to run without O2 sesnor feedback, and was tuned well, then the rich running condition is probably a mechanical issue, not the tune or lack of O2 sensor feedback...

It would help you immensely if you could contact the person who did the work and see if you can find out exactly how it was tuned.... with or without O2 sensor feedback.

Barring that, if the O2 sensors were "turned off" in the tune, and then you hook them up, nothing will change and it will still run the same...

You would then know it is not the tune and you can start looking for another reason it's running rich... (ie; plugged air cleaner element, leaky/badly worn fuel injectors, etc, etc)

Good luck and report back what you find...

UPDATE:

I discovered that my oil breather filter was very dirty as well as my air filter. I cleaned both, and installed new plugs. I'm going top check the plugs after a 100 miles and see how they look. Stay tuned, hopefully that was all it was.

NOTE: I am not an expert at reading plugs.

I have read a lot about it over the years, and there are various experts who will disagree on some of the minutiae of what various things should look like.... I've also read that slow speed running and idling can alter how a plug looks when reading them.

However, unless there was a lot of slow speed running and idling in those 150 miles, those look pretty good to me......

I certainly don't see any of the red flags I've read about that would cause me alarm.

If it's running & starting well, along with those plugs, I'd be satisfied...

Hopefully someone better trained/experienced in reading plugs will chime in...

No low speed running/ idling. Mostly back road riding , average 40-55, some hard riding mixed in. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it.
