Default 07 Softy

Hi all, I have an 07 Softail Standard, I’m running SE 110 cube barrels etc with S&S 583 cams plus all the extras that go with this, I’m currently fitting S&S 89cc Superstock heads to this motor, all is well so far, my question is this, there are no machined channels from the breather valves in between the rockers to the outlet ports on the new heads, S&S do provide a gasket with a J shaped channel in it to the outlet ports which is slightly thicker than the standard gasket, are they expecting this to be sufficient to allow engine to breathe properly ??

Interesting observation.... I never noticed that missing breather channel... Looking at the "relief" in the S&S rocker gasket, I would wonder too....

I have S&S Super stock heads on an S&S crate engine, but had the OEM HD heads machined for use on my HD 88" engine when I went to a big bore kit.... SO I have no experience with the super stock heads on an HD engine...

The rocker covers on my S&S crate engine are altogether different, with a different breather system and rocker base cover gaskets, than the S&S rocker base gasket for the HD rocker base cover. So I can see why the heads don't have that channel...

The web site says they are bolt on, so I suspect that channel in the gasket is sufficient..... Hopefully someone will post up with a definitive answer on that question, or I'd have to call S&S just for piece of mind...

If you should call S&S, post up their response....
