Default Deuce sidemount license

I am installing a sidemount license bracket on my '01 Deuce. Can anyone tell me the best way to remove the old mounting bracket from the fender? Does the whole plastic piece come out or do you just cut it off under the fender?

I would cut it off at the end of the fender and not take it all off because the part that is up under the fender
holds up the wiring.

Thanks for the advice so far. I cut the plastic portion off with a dremel so that it is concealed. Here is a bit of advice that I have learned so far. If you have the HD deuce style chrome sproket cover, axle cover, and chrome belt guards installed, you will be working in a very tight area. I got the bracket to just fit next to the axle cover. It is very difficult to get to the allen heads to tighten up (even with a cut downallen wrench). I did not get it fully clamped down, but feels rather secure. Does anyone have any advice for conealing the wiring for the plate light. It looks as if routing to thestock location for terminating wires will be the best. Note to buyers of the Kuryakan 3171, thezip-ties that they send for concealing wiresare too small.
