Default Must Replace All Cables on 2002 Fatboy

I bought my 2002 Fatboy used last summer. It currently has only 18,000 miles on it. All of the cables must be replaced very soon. My dealership told me ballpark price will be around $1,000. What are some of the best brands for cables that will last the longest? What is a fair price for all cables? What is a fair price for labor to have them replaced? I was told to bring the bike back in for measurements as I have apes so the cables will be longer than standard. Last question, isn’t only 18,000 miles a bit ridiculously low to have to replace all the cables or is it a combination of time?

Thanks in advance from anyone with knowledge to share here.

One looks like the cable is about to break. It’s got a bend in it right at the attachment on the throttle cable. To be honest I am a dummy on this one. I am taking my service guys advice. How in the heck do you know if they need replaced? These are not the stock cables. They are about eight years old and have only about 10,000 miles on them. How does one know if cables need to be replaced. I have owned like 16 other bikes and never worried about replacing their cables both Harleys and metric bikes.

This is exactly what I was thinking too. I have never heard nor read anywhere a service guy advising all cables replaced on a Harley or any other bike with only 18,000 on the bike and maybe 10,000-12,000 on the cables.

Here`s an example from Barnett of stock length cables figure extra for Ape version.
You be the judge if $1000 is reasonable

Take it to another dealer or independent and get a second opinion.

It must be time to replace your dealer.
