Kind of showing up late to your post - But I have the HD quick release set-up on my FB. It takes literally 5 seconds to take the windshield on or off. There are two grommets down of the lower triple tree that the yock like your picture slides into and two up top that has the spring latch retainer. If you would like a picture I can get it for you.
It is really nice to be able to pop it on and off so easily, HD did a great job on their QR set-up.

Thanks, if you want to post a pic, that'd be great. I think I've got this one figured out now. Just mounting those lower gromets had to be done differently from the fatboy wit the headlight nacelle to the softail fork setup . I ended up using the signal light mount. If I change to bar mounted signals, I may try the fork tube clamp style mount, but for now I just needed to get this on so I'll be ready for a long ride next month.

Here are the mounts for my HD windshield. Hope it helps a little. I have never had them off but appears they are a shoulder bolt/cap screw with a grommet.

Thanks, helps to see how the original setup is. Mine is a bit different since it doesn't have the headlight nacelle, but I got it to work, should be much nicer on highway trips now

It makes such a huge difference when running 65+ mph. Worth the ugly look just for the comfort factor. But one other thing to note, it does transmit more of the engine noise right up to you.
