I have a bike that the speedo is exact per the GPS on my phone with a brand new tire (Bridgestone S11 120/90-18). When it's worn out, the speedo reads a few (two or three IIRR) mph faster.

Just my 2 cents,
Tom
Not sure what IIRR is but the logic in your post is illogical. Why would smaller tire make it read faster. How bout 50 cents worth of thought.?
I'll PayPal you the 48 cents if necessary.
And here I thought I had rounder straight and he just swung away at Tom's curve ball with a 'Like'.
I know.. save you guys the trouble.

IIRR= If I Remember Right. IIRC= If I Remember Correctly, a little more sure than IIRR.
I'm not going to do the math. But.......
A new tire is X amount circumference. When new, it is larger and spins X times to go a distance. When the circumference gets smaller with a worn tire, it takes more turns to go the same distance.
Also. a X tire size from different tire brands will/may have a different circumference. So one brand your speedo could be exact. Another brand it could be off a bit. Change tire sizes and your speedo will be off.
Think of a auto with stock factory tires. The MFG "probably" set the speedo to that size, with brand new tires, not half worn or the like. Now add some monster mudders to it and the speedo will not be correct per factory. You'll be showing (for instance) 60mph on the speedo when your doing 70mph per GPS with the monster mudders. Not to mention the brakes will not work as well.
MY assumption was the first poster was hinting at being cheated out of warranty.
Where was that hint? Not my thought process at all. I am just wondering, since my odometer shows 103 miles after I have gone 100 miles, will my speedo show 103 when I am doing 100 MPH?

Since when do Harley's have any warranty mileage constraints? 2 years, unlimited miles on new bikes. 1 year, unlimited miles on parts.
OP, speedo and odometer are tied together, they will both equally be off.
Thanks. Never owned a new Harley . No idea. Have attempted to buy 3 times. That look of staying on 5K above sticker and then trying to convince me all that chrome was worth it made me walk away.
One told me I was depriving my family. He knew it was all over when the wife fell out of the chair laughing hysterically.
Why is the FP worrying about 3%. I actually thought I knew.

Where does the speed reading come from... Front wheel, rear wheel. My sportster picks up the speed from a transmission gear... So changing the rear wheel tire makes a difference... other bikes pick it up from the front...
