I bought a set of Cobra neighbor haters for my 2015 softail slim some time ago. I was always under the impression that if I'm just doing slip ons, I would not need a tune. Apparently the softail slims have the catalytic convertor in the stock OEM pipes/slip ons so mine pops quite a it when I replaced those. Does anyone know of any after market slip ons that have a built-in cat?
I've asked our local harley dealer, as well as my go-to independent dealer and they both recommend getting a new cam, stage 1-4 or whatever, then buying a tuner for my bike.
Honestly I just would like the exhaust popping gone, aside of re-installing the stock slip ons, does anyone have any ideas? Or like I asked above, are their any aftermarket slipons that sound pretty good that have built-in catalytic convertors? The bike otherwise seems to run great.
Did the Cobra Neighbor Hater slip-ons come with baffles?
If they did come with baffles, have the baffles been removed?
If the baffles have been removed, then putting the baffles back in may deliver what you are looking for.
I bought them (off the shelf)from Dennis Kirk, I assume they are baffled, I installed them as is and have not modified them at all, not removed baffles or anything like that. You did give me an idea to contact Cobra to see if they have different baffles for these pipes that might make a difference in the popping noise I'm getting.
I'd suggest a Tuner. Look at the Dynojet Power Commander. It's a very good baseline and if you decide to do more later it'll work fine. I run one in
my 05. Does the job without breaking the bank. Look into an Air Cleaner like the Arlen Ness Big Sucker. Then tune them all at once. I can't imagine
why they'd recommend cams to solve your issue. That to me is a money grab. Also these list Cats.
