Default Harley Split Tanks

What are your opinions about increasing the cross over lines enough so it can be fill from the right side and not the left? Also this could allow installation of 100TECH Fuel Level Sending Unit with Gauge to the left tank fill area. So what are your thoughts?

What year/model are you talking about....??

I suspect you are talking about a shovel head or EVO bike....? Around 2001+ the split tanks have not been totally separate. They already have a fuel gauge on the left side, with only a right side fill...

As my memory serves me, with my shovel heads and my EVO that had a true split tank, I believe the crossover hose is attached to a nipple, that is part of the tank itself. So to actually get a faster flow between the tank halves, you would need to do some metal work to the tank halves. You would need to remove the OEM nipples and add nipples of a bigger size. Just increasing the hose size wouldn't alleviate the restriction in the flow from the smaller OEM nipples...

If my memory is not accurate, I'm sure I someone will correct me....

I own and ride a 1984 Harley Davidson Softail FXST.

I realize that the nipples will need to be cutoff and larger nipples need to be welded to tank.

What are you trying to accomplish?
Unless you're putting a cross over as large as the fill hose on the pump
you're wasting your time and money.

I think It's very clear to what I want to accomplish.

Yes, the cross over lines would be large enough, more than the nozzle at the pump. There is the size of the nozzle, volume and pressure that needs to be taken in consideration.

It's my time and money that I am entitled to waste if I like.

I am just looking for opinions on why are these are 1/4" cross over lines?
Are there any safety concerns that I am not seeing?

I asked for "Opinions and Thoughts"

It really doesn't matter what I first posted, now, since I've already clarified my post.

Aaaaaaaaaand........there it is, that's one way to shut down a thread. You're asking these guys for "Opinions and Thoughts?" Then you take an attitude "It's my time and money that I am entitled to waste if I like."

Oh son, you're not going to make many friends here. You just **** on a couple of the most knowledgeable riders and wrenchers here. You need to back up a step and listen. I'm willing to bet their keychain is older than you. I know mine is. Good luck moving forward. 4 posts.

Honestly, I am not taking an attitude, just replying to comments.

Really it's no one's place to say what is not worth my time or money. No one has a right to say that to anyone. I work two full time jobs, and you absolutely do not know me to talk down to me like I am your son. I just want to make that clear.
