Question help voes location

2003 fatboy, been sitting for 8 years. ( not mine neighbors bike)
drained tank , cleaned carb.
all of the vacuum line to the carb were rotten.
the vacuum petcock was rotted . replaced with manual petcock.
put seal on carb vacuum port.
the line that went to the voes rotted off at the carb barb,
I cannot see where the voes is located .
is it under the tank ????

btw the bike starts and runs.

I understand the bike ignition will be retarded with no vacuum to the voes ??
I would like to hook it up IF I CAN FIND THE DAGGUM THING

Look under the tank near the upper motor mount

It should be attached to the back side of the upper engine mount .

If you find a VOES on your bike let me know.....

Your bike shouldn't have a VOES (vacuum operated electrical sensor), you have a MAP (manifold air pressure) sensor instead...

I forget the year they changed, but my 2001 Twin Cam doesn't have VOES, just MAP...

You are not mixing it up with the petcock vacuum line are you? I think the VOES vacuum line would "T" off the vacuum petcock's vacuum line, but it's been awhile since I owned a VOES bike..

thanks 4 the reply, this bike is carbed, and it has two vacuum ports on the carb.
the petcock port is on motor side of the carb hence vacuum there whenever the motor is running Or cranking.
the voes port is on the intake side of carb, the vacumn will drop when throttle is quickly opened and return when rpm is increased.

my 03 has fuel injection and it does have the map sensor.

You asked about a "2003 fatboy, been sitting for 8 years. ( not mine neighbors bike)" The 2003 FLSTF Fatboy, with a carb, has a MAP, not a VOES...

My 2001 is a carbed bike and it has the MAP, not a VOES..

They stopped using the VOES and went to the MAP, when they did away with the cam sensor.

Here is the parts pic showing the MAP on a 2003 FLSTF Fatboy with carb... It's #5 in this parts pic:

https://www.harley-davidson.com/us/e...06583d5552d8/y

Here is a 1999 FLSTF Fatboy with carb... THIS bike has the VOES & cam sensor.... no MAP sensor

The cam sensor is #9 in this pic.

The VOES is #7 in this parts pic. You can see the vacuum line for the VOES is T'd off another vacuum line, I believe that is between the carb and the petcock which is #6 in the pic. I don't remember the OEM CV40 carb on my 2001 having a second vacuum port, but if your carb has a second vacuum port, it is probably missing a cap, not a line to the VOES...

You are welcome to keep looking for a VOES on the 2003 FLSTF FatBoy, but per the Harley Online OEM Service Parts finder, there will not be one for you to find....

Good luck with your search...

That is the VOES which the 2003 Fat Boy, with the carb and MAP sensor, does not have.

That parts diagram is from an EVO FatBoy, that does have the VOES switch and cam sensor, no MAP sensor.....

For bikes that have a VOES, several posters above described where it would be found....

Here is a pic, captured from a video about checking the VOES. This shows where the VOES would be on bikes that have one...
