Hi, I'm looking for some good technical manul for Softail 2000. I'd like charts, pictures, all parts, typical maintenance ... all in one book. Does anyone have Clymer: FLST/FXST TC 88B 2000-03, large format Black & Gold series? Is it good?
Any other book recommended?
Maybe stupid question but what is the difference between 88 and 88B?
Thanks.
It's a good question berryCR. The 88 is a standard 88 CU.IN. twin cam. The 88B is an 88 CU. IN. twin cam with counter balancers installed to smooth out the vibration you normally get with a standard 88. The 88B is installed on all 2000 and up softail bikes. The 88B is bolted directly to the frame thus the balancers keep all the parts from shakin' off. The standard 88 on the Dyna and Touring lines are mounted on rubber mounts to help disipate the vibrations. The balancers and are chain driven and i've heard they weight about 2.5 pounds each.
