Default Pucker Moments...

Good Day everyone! I am curious what "pucker" Moments you have had with your bikes. Mine so far was the day I went to pick up my 2013 Heritage Softail, the guy told me he had a ramp and I didn't need to bring one. So we left ours at the house and off to the eastern side of WA to pick up the u-haul trailer and then the bike. First the test ride, and that went well. I was a bit nervous with the old bikers watching me, and the fact it has been 5 yrs since my last time on a bike. The test ride went well, and the deal was made. Now time to get the trailer and load the bike. After grabbing the trailer, I head back to the guy's house. We get the trailer set up, and fire the bike up. I ask the guy about his ramp, and he says yea I got something that will work. He comes back with a 4.5' 2x4 . I bring the bike around, and line up with the trailer... I sight the front tire and the "Ramp" and do this several times, slowly I bring the bike forward with a good line on that 4" wide board.

I get the front tire smartly up the board and pause when the tire gets on the truck bed. I can hear the old guys, mumbling about not stopping on the board as I am already rolling the throttle and bring my feet up to the floor boards and next thing I know I am up in the trailer and stopping nicely in the spot where we tied it down for the trip home.

Honestly I don't want to have to do that twice lol but I am happy I got the bike loaded and safely home!

But you made it. All is well.

Enjoy the new bike.

Thanks, I actually picked it up last November on the 6th, but it's been sitting in my nephew's shop until I finish payments on it. I make the final payment next Thursday, and we are meeting at the title shop for that Once I have the paperwork to show the Harley dealer, I will get set of replacement keys, as I am not comfortable parking it when anyone can just hop on and start it (it's unlocked and the guy has never had the keys) , then ride off... I don't want to loose it after all the $ I have paid on it

Pucker moment... Coming around a bend at night to find an 8-10" diameter tree laying across the road from ditch line to ditch line. No escape route, not enough time to stop. Hammer down and lighten the front end. The ol'lady's crotch was at my head level. That's a pucker moment.

Or last Sunday when I hit a buzzard with my windshield.

I could think of a bunch more... people left of center, pulling out in front of you, etc etc... I think your story is more a lapse in judgement that made you have an uncomfortable loading situation.

Last August I was heading to work (6:45 AM) in Northeast Nebraska and came around a bend in the road to find 2 deer crossing. The first one got by no problem, the second dashed out as I hit the rear brake, swerved to the right and I swear I could smell deer ****... made the adrenaline sky rocket... I believe the deer puckered as much or more than I did.

concrete road intersection expansion joint blown out 5" wide, as deep to road bed and 20ft long in the middle of the lane running at a slight angle

Pulling away from the light, car in front of me, I didn't notice it til I was "right there"
by luck, I hadn't shifted to 2nd (normally would have) so it had enough guts to lighten the front wheel when I goosed it to get over the trench....

I can agree that this I was a lapse in judgment on my part!
