I'm an old-timer on the forums (shovelheads) and new to the Twin Cam scene -just picked up this 2003 FLSTC - 37K miles - was originally in CA (based on the VIN and carb tube to canister) - runs great - quiet and smooth - have to admit I am not a fan of the smooth and quiet part - has this aftermarket part mounted to the downtubes tab - still has the original ignition unit under the seat so I dont think this is an ignition thing - not in the parts at Ronnies - seems like a heat sink for some electrical gadget - like regulator or something but there is really nothing non-stock on the bike - maybe the HD LED front light was not original but most else looks original to me......
Anybody know what it is? Has a red light dot on the bottom - does not seem to ever be lit though - thanks in advance - Ferg
the wire cluster goes up into the fork cover - it does not appear to wind back through the tank tunnel - the component has been there a long time - at least it is weathered like its been there a long time

I have a 2003 FLSTCI that I have owned since new.... I can tell you that it is not OEM... It is some aftermarket accessory circuitry.....
If you have an LED headlight, the headlight is NOT OEM, so it could be for the headlight...
The LED headlight options didn't show up for HD bikes until around 2011 or 2012....
That’s one of those Devices that they put on automobiles when you have very bad credit, but they still sell you the bike . It is a Device that they can send a signal to and disable it until you make your monthly payment . But I never saw one on a bike , so I’m just guessing.
hmmmm - a starter interupt device.....GPS tracker.....well - possible - but it wpould seem odd that would be hung out there and made of cast aluminum - most of those were encased like a GPS tracker - the LED headlight is an HD headlight - so maybe I can find that kit in a catalog somewhere and see if that is a heat sink or something - I can pull the front nacelle apart and try and track the connecitons down.....

I'm sure there were probably a couple different versions over the years, but currently, the only LED headlight that HD sells that will fit the 2003 Heritage is the 7" Daymaker Signature Reflector LED Headlamp. (dated 12/04/19)
I looked at the install instructions and they show it as a self contained unit. Mounting adapters and accessory wire connectors are shown, but no external heat sink modules.
With an external heat sink, I would think it would have been for an early zeon light bulb as TwiZted Biker already mentioned. I seem to remember that even early LED bulbs had heat sinks, and some even had small fans, attached to the light bulb base/fixture itself. But I am no expert and my memory isn't infallible....
well - pulled the nacelle - found it was not connected to anything but there was a wiring harness - I attached the red and black feeds to a 12V batt and it clicked and the red light came on - guess I can check the output voltage for AC current and voltage - this bike is a real head scratcher to me - it is originally from Cali - came to Minnesota and sat outside a mobile home under a tarp - runs great but the guy I bought it from put those big screamin eagle slash cuts on it so it is a bit flat on accel through the low range - still had the original idle jet adjust plug in the carb - pulled that and opened it up so its not bad - but the needle needs a shim - not real sure I like the TC no pulse/vibration grunt going on with a counterbalanced motor - like my shovels and Evo better - still a cool little bike
