I have a 99 Heritage Springer that is having headlight issues. The low beam will work, but when I hit the high beam every light in the bike shuts off. I cannot find anywhere where there is a grounded wire and the bulbs are not blown. Does anyone have an idea of what it may be? Thanks in advance.
Nothing jumps out at me to match what you describe, especially if it isn't blowing a fuse while doing it.
So I would likely start by disconnecting things and going through the switch cycling to see when it quits doing this. Disconnect the headlight connector, disconnect the dashlight connector, etc.
I would also try disconnecting the handlebar switch and jumpering the headlight, high and low, to see if it still does this or not.
I'm not an electrical guru.... but if no fuses or bulbs are blown when this happens, it seems that a direct short may not be the problem...
In that case I would start with the switch...
Since the trigger is the switching from low to high beam, I would start there trying to test that left side switch pack. The online parts finder shows the dimmer & horn switches together. I haven't looked at an EVO switch pack in over 21 years, so I can't remember how it looks and how to check it...
