Bottoming out on rear shocks on my 2013 Heritage with 30000 miles! I weigh 165 and always ride solo. Is it time to replace shocks, or do I have a different problem? Maybe get the preload adjusted?
Thanks for the replies, no lowering kit, but I agree they shouldn't wear out so soon. I'm trying to have a shop look at them, but it's been over 110 degrees here for over a week and I ain't riding in such heat!
I can agree, at 30K mileage many state stocks should not be blown out, yet inspect for an oil leak.
If preload is not the cure, then perhaps the spring rate could be replaced with higher tension.
That is your low cost "trouble shooting".
If all that does not cure, you may have a compression adjustment or OEM compression rate issue.
In that case, new shocks, ideally with compression and rebound adjustments, and a spring rate set to your weight is the answer.
$1000 is not "out of the question" for this replacement.
And lastly as you adjust the rear note you may uncover front weaknesses.
