I reallly think that if you do alot of riding....don't go for the high bars....the stock bars on my heritage started to give me trouble....because I had to move them further forward because of my long arms.....it got uncomfortable on long rides....so I think that the ape hangers would be a real rough to deal with.

Firedude, it was a tongue-in-cheek statement.

I generally ride about 500 miles a week back & forth to work and evening rides with THE MAMA on her little Savage. Weather permitting, nearly every Saturday is a 200 - 400 mile ride with my chapter. I haven't been able to ride with the high apes in about 20 years, mostly due to a shoulder injury, and tendonitis. Couple guys I rode with 2-3 years ago who had high apes got rid of 'em when we started doing our Saturday rides. They went to slightly lower, no more than shoulder high, bars and said the comfort was much greater, and the finger-tingling due to lack of circulation went away.

If you can ride with the high bars, more power to ya! And would you consider a shoulder joint swap?
Yes, I would consider a swap. I must tell you up front that both of mine are shot and need surgery at this time though. If I was putting as many miles on as you are I would have to trade the Springer for a two wheeled couch and low bars. Its usually my butt that calls uncle on long rides[:@].

Im running 16" ape hangers, (pic on profile) and I do alot of high mileage riding. Comfortable? Absolutely! Does my hand get numb sometimes while riding, yes, mainly because of a surgery I had performed to my left hand (nasty kitchen accident, pearing knifes are sharp!) Would I recommend them to someone who is wanting to change out bars to something more comfortable and better looking? Absolutely!!! Id say go for it, but I wouldnt recommend higher than shoulder high. Skip is on the money with the explanation.
